Our Model

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is not just an abstract concept, but a true form of intelligence — being smart with feelings — that enables us to integrate thinking and emotions to make more effective decisions, build authentic relationships, and navigate life with greater clarity.

To make this competence actionable, Six Seconds developed in 1997 a practical, simple, and applicable model made up of three core steps: Self Awareness, Self Management, and Self Direction.

This model, one of the most robust of its kind, is grounded in over 20 years of global research and is used in more than 150 countries. It is also the foundation of the SEI (Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Assessment), the most widely used tool in the world for measuring and developing EQ, with over 500,000 people having taken it.
